2022, International Journal of Medical InformaticsCitation Excerpt :Despite the interoperability and reuse of these modules, data retrieval was accomplished through proprietary mechanisms at individual institutions. Without a common information model, coordinating standards among CDS components (e.g., logic and service layer) is challenging [11,12], resulting in CDS components with EHR-specific information models and terminologies that were adapted to clinical content and workflows at each institution [13,14]. Impeded interoperability, due to the lack of a common information model, has contributed to unsuccessful attempt at making CDS readily shareable.
